In the middle of Charlottenburg sits a genuine piece of Berlin history. The imposing Anna Stanscheck – the “Dicke Wirtin”, the stout landlady – was famous for her big heart, her stews, her love for the students of the nearby art academy and her gruff sympathy for artists, writers, actors and all the other eccentrics.
The crowd she served was always just as mixed and interesting. And so Dicke Wirtin has remained what it always was and always will be: a true Berlin pub with a kitchen, charm and character.
