Our story

In the spirit of Anna Stanscheck, the “stout landlady”

In the middle of Charlottenburg sits a genuine piece of Berlin history. The imposing Anna Stanscheck – the “Dicke Wirtin” – was famous for her big heart, her stews, her love for the students of the nearby art academy, and her gruff sympathy for artists, writers, actors and all the other eccentrics.

The crowd she served was always just as mixed and interesting. The city has been through turbulent times, and Dicke Wirtin with it. But every turbulence was met here with great calm and a properly poured beer.

And so Dicke Wirtin has remained what it always was and always will be: a true Berlin pub with a kitchen, charm and character.

Food & Drinks

“Rather a bit more – but proper good food!”

Old Berlin cooking stands for hearty flavours, regional ingredients and generous portions. Much has changed over the years – but Berliners always come back to Eisbein (pork knuckle) with sauerkraut or Boulette (meatball) with fried potatoes. The classics never go out of style.
